Our Next Meeting 19th January 2009

Feature

Toastmaster

The Toastmaster is responsible for running the meeting.

This is a great opportunity for developing your leadership skills within a meeting and for getting to know the speakers and evaluators.

Preparation

Toastmasters should contact all the meeting participants a few days before the meeting (using the published programme as a checklist) to obtain material for an introduction, usually following a theme.

At the meeting

Arrive 30 minutes before the meeting starts to check arrangements and participants. Liaise with the EVP and/or President re any late changes. It is best to sit in a seat near to the President just in case there are developments during the course of the meeting that you should be aware of.

Where possible, ensure that any equipment is set up in advance or during a suitable break. Be ready to assist with equipment during the meeting.

After your introduction by the president, make a brief introductory address, cover any housekeeping points (mobiles off etc) and then introduce participants in accordance with the programme.
